hello everyone

I am new to this forum so I would like to introduce myself first. I am Nishant and have done MBA in Marketing & International Business in 2003. After completing my course I have started working with ICICI Bank as a Relationship Executive for Current A/c. After working with that for a year I changed the job and started working with an organisation which was into IT related entertainment business. I worked with that company till this April this year. Then suddenly the company has shut down one day and I have become jobless. Though I have worked in Sales for near about 4 years but I never enjoyed that completely. Now I would like to make a shift into HR as I think that this is the most suitable field of job for me ( as now I dont want to do a target oriented sales job and I want to do an office job) . But I dont know how should I approach for the job in this field and what sort of questions will I have to face in the Interview? Should I do some short term course in HR and if yes then from where can I do that ? I would like to mention that before doing my MBA I have done MA in English. So please help me as soon as possible.

Thanks

dear Nishant,
Ultimate career choice is yours. But is better to decide as early as possible. To be a HR prodessional, you'll have to have that attitude. Study on HR issues, and realise, if possible have PG degree.
Moreover, you can read or download plenty of information, questioniers on HR in this site, HR Forum.
Wish you better career.

Hai Nishant,
Welcome to the forum .
Looking at your present profile I understand your concern for targets .Targets are not only there in Sales it is applicable to any field in its own form.Whether the function is HR or any other, now a days in organisation people face challanges in the form KRA's report or KPI which are reviewed periodically.I feel with your MBA in international business and PG degree MA you still can pursue for a carrer in exposrt oriented organisation as your career start was in sales.

Hello,
What I understand is that, you do not like "Targets" and "Traveling".
Before you switch into HR, let me tell you there are so many sub divisions in HR also. For example, Recruitment, Pay-Roll are the main sub categories. There are so may also depending upon the organizational structure. which one do you prefer?
I do not think you will be preferred in any HR job initially.
I hope you have the following options to choose from:
1. HR recruiter (You will only recruit the sales people), payroll job will be difficult to get
2. Shift from Sales to "Sales Trainer"
3. Shift from Sales to "Customer Care/Brand Executive"
4. Shift from sales to "Inside sales / Pre sales / Post sales"
5. Shift from sales to online bidding (in IT company)
There are so many other options also. You can get in touch with me at .
"Challenge the challenger" ....
