Dears, Can anybody explain what is exact meaning of 'Mile stone' in an 'Action plan' ? What it should define in ideally ? I f u qoute an example, that would be better. Thanks in advance. Hanmant.
Milestones are installed to reassure travelers that the proper path is being followed and to indicate either distance traveled or the remaining distance to a destination.
Action Plan: A specific document describing various steps (including timeline, and responsibilities) to be performed during the implementation of business / process improvements
Within the framework of action plan, a “milestone” is the end of a stage that marks the completion of a step or phase. At this juncture, a review of outcome of activities may help to decide further course of action. In this sense, a "milestone" not only signifies distance traveled (key stages in an action plan) but also indicates direction of travel since key decisions made at milestones may alter the route through the action plan.

Very correctly described. They are those part of action plan at which a review is essential to see the progress made and carryout the course correction according to whether we are ahead in execution of the action, behind the desired point and what needs to be done to correct the situation.
It is a stage which is measurable and / or crucial for effective execution of the action plan. On schedule achievement of a mile stone confirms all is well else one has to review and revise action plan or get paln B, plan C etc rolling.

milestone helps u in knowing how far are you from your set goals to be achieved in action plan..
example: when you have to reach a particular destination by road, you come acrsoss various milestones, which tell you how far is the final destination.

Milestone represents epoch in a project. These are the key dates probably affecting cash flows. Each milestone is only a point in time.having duration 0.
hi my name PAVANRAJ i am studying MBA 1st in hubli..
According to me MILSTONE is a process of getting or reaching the goal which we have dreamed in past from long time
And in Action plan " milestone should be acheived as soon as possible to get the life success and fullfill our needs"
MILESTONE IN ACTION PLAN- describes as acheivement of goal in our life cycle for any kind of needs, demands and to fullfillour requirements............

Regarding milestones and action plans, you may find the chapter on milestones in our book "The New Leader's 100-Day Action Plan" useful. It could be findable in your local stores. Failing in that, you can always click through our site Executive Onboarding & Leadership Transition Acceleration - PrimeGenesis and get it or some useful white papers there.

Samba has described milestones accurately, so have all others, in other words when you are doing a project, each segment of the work plan has a partial achievement, milestones are set to see what portion has been completed from a path leading to the goal. It is linked with resources and time.
