Six Sigma is a business management strategy originally developed by Motorola. six sigma project are be developed for Removing defects in the products & its main function is to improve quality...it actually a business process specially for quality management...
DMAIC is simply
1) Defining (the problems)
2) Measuring (collected data for problem solving)
3) Analyze (Data r verified & investigate )
4) Improve (the current process is been improved base upon data Analyze)
5) Control (see for the future variation)

Six sigma is an innovative tool which should be implemented after ascertaining certain facts. It basically concerns the quality in terms of world class manufacturing facility. It directly relates to the present level of quality in terms of parts per million opportunities. If this figure is around 20 to 30 presently, it is worthwhile that you proceed for implementation. Because on reaching 6 signma the parts per million opportunities should be 3.4. In my opinion very few industries rated at a very high level of orderliness, their plant able to deliver high producitivity with all systems and procedures in place would be in a position to achieve. You should select participants who are highly talented, dedicated and enthusiastic in accepting the role. These participants should be sent for training on six sigma principles and should be accreditated with certification as Green/Black belt. Green belt are directly involved in the activities and are under the supervision of Black Belt. There should also be a Champion to oversee the black belt leaders,besides a Top management person performing the role as Supreme Coordinator. These teams are trained and given preliminary instructions, their roles well defined and with the complete participation of all employees. Basically any machine, process or manufacturing will go through hurdles/quality problems,machine inaccuracies,raw material delay and so on. The procedure to contain these hurdles is through a team participation, brain storming, conducting why why analysis, making use of 7 quality tools on the shop floor. They understand the problem and ultimately find a solution which eliminates the problem once and for all. The new procedure should be sustained over a long time and not given up. This would enable the organisation to come near to 6 sigma implementation and with fine tuning and meticulously handling the issues, the magic figure of 3.4 is achieved. The procedure is through a metrics namely Define, Measure, Analyise,Improve and Control and relalitive terms of these metrics have important message which ultimately when understood completely, results in significant achievement. Usually Lean manufacturing is associated with 6 sigma due the each being a complimentary function with respect to the other.
