Hi Phil.
Can you classify or define more specifically, that you are trying to find out.
'Happy' can mean many things, which may not be what your want to know.
Some of the Q's. Do you want to know if ur team is happy
a. with the compensation they get or
b. progress in their career or
c. work environment or
d. work culture or
e. anything that will help them perform better or
f. infra-structure or
g. kind of project the work on
etc etc
My opinion is... put the Q's which will help you understand the team better
and help you deliver over n above the expectation.

Hi,
You have a new team in your organization.so its important to consider their views bout the organization.since they are new here they might not be content with certain things.why dont you have a general discussion with each one in that case u will get to know wat do they expect from you and from the organization also how they can contribute to the growth of the organization.Dont get into preparing questionnare as for them it might be like appearing for an exam.u might even not get honest response instead treat them like a friend and not like a boss.so that they feel free & open in giving suggestion & also sustain to stay in your organization.

Phil:
First do some focus groups with your employees, with the HR people, with the top management. This will give you an impression of what the various stake holders think of the subject you are considering studying. After this only you structure the questionnaire. In the questionnaire, make sure you get the ratings scale right. Sometimes, organizations want a high sat score any how and the make the scaling such that the employee ends up giving good ratings only.

hi,
I don't think a survey by preparing a set of questionnare will work in today's era.sometimes an employee is provided with all the benefits like good post, compensation, comfortable cabins yet he is not able to give his 100percent.why?
coz he requires guidance, proper training & development skills which can be identified by observing their work, performance, dedication & by discussing u will know whether they are dedicated or if they have no interest wat can be done to improve on it.and as i said u may not get an honest response.a dissatisfied employee can express that he is satisfied by these set of questionnare.a simple example our parents dont provide us with a set of questionnare to identify our satisfaction with wat v get from them.

swetha.
