A survey of your team members would only prove that you are more bureaucrat than manager/leader. I managed people for over 30 years and have made all the errors possible but eventually learned effective solutions to them all.

Do you want them to treat their work, their customers and their bosses with great respect? Then treat them with great respect. Ask them individually and in groups what they need to do a better job, what might be obstacles. Get away from giving them orders and start giving them help.

The last team I had was a 1300 person unionized group in New York City. When I arrived they hated to come to work. By doing what I have described above, in about one year most of them enjoyed coming to work and their work output had increased greatly.
