The earlier assessment of IQ was to determine the excellance in getting educated, and a high IQ would invariably place the individual at higher competancy level compared with one at average IQ. Studies made on subjects were evaluated to determine whether IQ plays significant role in the development of the individual. It was also confirmed that it does help. With high IQ, better memory power, perception, intuitive abilities, alertness, comprehension, accomplishments in tasks were all the added benefits.

The present scenario has more to do with the Emotional Intelligence, since the importance of participating management needed collective efforts to streamline synergy. These yeilded better results compared to the earlier dominating or leadership management. Few leaders and remaining followers were the order of those days. The IQ of the leaders were instrumental and they were responsible to be mentors to the followers. The rise in technological innovations coupled with comforts and benefits of modern environment has proved beyond doubts that a better relationship between human to human is essential and should exist. Traits like communication, skills, etiquitte, discipline, getting to know people, cordiality, art of listening, considering view points of others, synergy, empowering and empathising are contributing factors for making lives of all comfortable & enjoyable.

With the advent of emotional intelligence, IQ has become redundant. Those possessing higher IQ and not having any affinity with the traits as mentioned above, stand to relinquish their power of assertion in the present circumstances. To be successful and to sustain the outcome, one depends on co-existence, being modest,articulate,co-operation, constructive criticism, neither aggressive nor submissive, assertive, considerate, helpful, caring, empathising and empowering. These personality traits help the individual to be successful in life and also have close affinity to the society and meet social obligations. The present scenario is different from imperialism, slavery, bonded labour, autocratic, dictatership regimes which were in the past. We have today institutions like United Nations, Commonwealth, World Bank who take issues concerning the entire world's prosperity. Hence it is of paramount importance that we should be influenced by those personality traits which constantly enhances quality of the lives of everyone withoutanydiscrimination, subservience, animosity,ha tredness,
jealousness...,

The art of Emotional Intelligence if cultivated, would facilitate to lead a better life. IQ does have limitations. One known possessing high or low IQ has to be content with that. But EQ has no limitations. Desire for constant endeavour for the pursuit of happiness, for the well being of self and others, enables one to be on a continuous path for continuous improvements. Infact this message has perculated into all areas where participation management is used for collective achievements. The increase in per capita income, better education, industrialisation, transfer of money power to people, employment opportunities,on path to become developed country like G8, are all attributed to these continuous improvements or in other words known as KAIZEN.

Unfortunately, the awareness of EQ is still in infant stages. This message of importance of EQ should reach masses and everyone should make concerted efforts in acquiring the same. The matter needs the attention of social organisations, government, individuals and all others who feel that it benefits in larger perspective. More people should be covered under awareness programmes and trained. Consequently they should be able to train others, which results in empowering them. EQ should also be introduced as a subject in curriculam at under graduate/graduate level. The future of our country with the seeds of progress sowed, lies in the importance of behaviour of human beings. Developing an earnest desire in them to acquire emotional intelligence is of paramount importance and should never become a frivolous subject.
