No competency is developed from a sole source. Each of us considers superior than the other and ethnicity has nothing to do with one's capabilities. Many British do not speak or write English as well as many who are not British.
Then many who seem to speak English "fata fat" don't even write as good as those who find it difficult to speak.
If you want to succeed... get out of your comfort zone... expand your horizon.... sky is not definitely the limit... the universe is far beyound.... go out and explore.

Hi friends,
All the tips are very helpful and believe me every tip has got weightage,

Although i work for a very reputed BPO and worked for 2 reputed BPO's earlier, but still i feel that i ned improvement

i want to share few example,
I used to work for US based Inbound Call centre and during my 9 hours shift i used to converse with US client in english and beleive me there was amrk improvement in my Spoken English, So Speaking will Help:)

when i moved from that BPO to a Non base Process, this time i was not conversing in English and so my english again gone to docs, Speaking and keep it going is important:(

Third important point, many people wrote that we need to start thinking in english rather than in OUr local languauge, its very true and it will only come if u start practising it, i used to hear this and try to do so but it never happened, then i nominated myself for a Presentation Skills workshop in my company, where it wa snoting to do with spoken enlish or grammer but for 2 days everybody was conversing in english in that workshop and automatically to my surprise, i started thinking and framing sentences in english subconsiuoly from third day, so try to be among people who converse in english.

fourth point which i am practising now, somebody wrot that select a mentor who will help and guide to speak good english, i suggest, tell that mentor, every time i speak in regional language starting charging me with a choclate, every instance a choclate, this fear of giving a choclate to mentor will make u speak in english.

One thing which is learnt from one of my Iandian citizen but Australian based trainer, he said he was not good english speaker but he loved a girl who was very good in english, so to impress her, he learnt english and started conversing with her in english, i dont remember the fate, but now he is earning goo dbucks because of that practice.

last but not the least:
POple may lauch at you when u make mistakes which learning, so what we also lauch at child when tries to walk in intial stages and falls down, but that laugh is not teasing laugh isnt it, and even if somebody laughes at you to tease that, one day will come when he /she will stay laughing and u will lead the your world.

i think i worte a lot,
Happy day to all and happy speaking ,

Thanks and Regards,
Shiv

Hi..
To improve your language, first-of-all be confident on what ever you speak, be louder. Initially you might find it difficult or scared but slowly you will get to know the difference.
I do agree with the above statements of our friends but watching English movies will only make you better in improving Accent but not good english.
Keep talking to your Superiors and seniors in english that will also improve your skills.
Stay in front of the mirror and have a topic for the discussion for yourself, helpful to you.
Anywayz All the best for your career and Happy learning..

Spoken Language is closed loop which involves tounge , ear and brain. More we hear about language through our own tounge more we get fimilair with words and sentences. Grammer should be given importance in the intial stages..... I would recommend Moshe English Academy - 931-3463- 200which is situated at Palam Vihar , Gurgoan for spoken English

Dear Sugnyaasri, Yes the best way to learn to speak is to make the effort and speak to everyone in English, you may have a tough time but that's the way out. You have to speak and keep speaking till you get there. Slowly you will realise that your English is getting better and there are fewer remarks and being the butt end of jokes ! There is one more thing that you can do which is learn at least one word from the dictionary every day, just one word and its meaning and how it is pronounced. I have seen this work so all the best and just go for it!!
Warm regards

If you want to learn grammar, read books like Raymond Murphy, Wren and Martin.
If you want to build vocabulary, read Norman Lewis.
If you want to speak English fluently, join a program which gives you plenty of speaking practice.

By this time you must have received volley of suggestions, taking them into account what I would say is, SWIMMING CAN BE LEARNT ONLY BY PLUNGING IN THE WATER - NOT BY TAKING SWIMMING LESSONS ON GROUND. So as and when you get an opportunity to speak, overcome all your inhibitions and speak english. Do not worry about it's correctness. Always remember that in INDIA only 0.1% people speak truly correct english in its real spirit. Others are more of acting and less of real stuff. You may say I am also one of them. So lessons and suggestions will not work and do magic unless you speak out. Good Luck.
