I work for a German MNC in India for the last 3 years. Recently I have secured a better job with another company. I was very happy with my luck and went to put down my papers when my manager said that I have to serve full 3 months notice period and even if I am wiling, I cannot buy it out. Now, my terms of employment as per the appointment letter state &quot; You have to serve 3 months notice or 3 months basic pay in-lieu of&quot;. My manager is stating that due to some decisions taken by the executive management, it is mandatory now to serve 3 months notice, however there are no circulars pertaining to the said order that has come to us.<br />
My questions are:<br />
1.Can the company change the terms of employment at their own free will without informing the employees?<br />
2.I am willing to serve 40 days of notice and buyout the remaining, is there any legal provision that I can resort to if I do not get a clean release?<br />
3.What ere the documents I should ask from my manager to substantiate his claim that the decision has been taken?<br />
Please reply in earnest.<br />

If the number of workers in a particular office/branch  of the establishment is less than 20 is it compulsory to register under the contract labour act? what will be position if the number of contract workers in individual premise of the establishment is less than 20 but the total number of contract workers exceed 20 in the establishment taking into account all the branches/ offices of the establishment. What is the repercussion of non registration of the establishment under contract labour act if the number is 20 . Help with views/ case laws if any<br />
