ESI is only deducted on the basic salary.

Dear Sarin,

ESI is deducted on the Gross salary of the Employee. Basic, HRA, Conv, TA, SA etc.

Also any other allowance, the periodicity of which is less than 3 months is also taken in considering esic contribution.

Washing Allowance is not covered in ESIC.
Regards
