hi all i am kuldeep saini working as Sr Admin HR at a BPO

here from last few days i am heard from many people that ESIC ceiling is changed from 10000 to 15000 just wants to confirm this

please suggest me about the same

The ESI Corporation has approved to enhance wage ceiling from Rs 10,000 per month to Rs15,000 per month for coverage of employees under the ESI Scheme in its 149th meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge.

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Harish Rawat and the vice-chairman, ESIC, were also present in the meeting.

Keeping in view the increase in cost of living index and recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour, the corporation increased the wage ceiling limit for coverage of the employees under the ESI Scheme.

This will help the corporation to provide social security net to more and more employees of the organised sector.
Dear All,

Please express your views. Central Government on 26th February 2010 issued Draft Rules Amendment Notification to amend the wages ceiling to Rs. 15000.00 from Rs. 10000.00 and this draft notification time is 30 days.

The amendment may be effective from 1st April 2010 even if it is notified in May 2010. Please advise your accounts department to be ready to implement the same.

In case you have any objection, please email to with your objections / views. The last date for submission is 31st March 2010

As per Act,
Employee's ESIC Contribution : (1.75% of his basic)
Employer's ESIC Contribution : (4.75% of Employee's wage)

my salary is Rs.7500/month
As per rule
My Monthly ESIC contribution : (1.75%of 7143) = 125.00
Employer's Monthly contribution: (4.75%of 7500) = 356.00

And both deduction are done from my salary..
i.e
7500-125-356=7019 I got...(considering only ESIC deduction )

Is this right?means
Should both deductions be done from my salary only?
If so... why? please explain...

And that Employers ESIC contribution is not mentioned in pay slip.
Is this right?

If so, why we consider it as CONTRIBUTION?
means
in PF , 12% of us and we are getting 12% contribution from our employer
i.e
only 12% is deducted from our salary.. and we receive other 12% from our Employer as Contribution(gift).

In this ESIC , I receive all benefits, but for that i am giving 1.75% of my monthly wage..
So why other (4.75% of Employer's contribution) deduction is also done from my salary?

Please please give me reply on this as I am very confused with this.

And upto what range of monthly salary ESIC deduction is done?

I heard that if our salary is above 10000/- , then no ESIC deduction will be done from salary?
Please reply on this as it is very important for me..

As per amendment, wage ceiling for ESIC is 15,000/- ..means if your salary is more than 15,000..ESI Act is not applicable...no deductions...whrein..employer's contribution is paid from his own pocket..& employee's contribution is deducted from salary..

Kindly anybody clear my doubt.
Why company is deducting Both PF from employee's side only.
That employer's contribution & employee contribution also.
Is it fare for the employee or not??
If yes kindly let me know the valuable reason.
I am working in a manufacturing industry,wher we are following all rules of central govt.
