Hi Girish,

Some of the key advantages:
1. Getting every person monitoring on the same scale
2. Tracking opportunity at an higher level and implement process for improvement
3. Break through ideas to improve process gaps.
4. Coaching employees on Monitoring and feedback.
5. Develop strategies to improve overall Quality by reviewing the existing process and suggest amendments for good as per company policies. Need to strike a balance between cost and excellent quality.

Hi,
seen the question and the answer below.
As far as QMS goes, the requirement is the COntrol of Monitoring and Measuring Device.
Which means its something to do with "DEVICE"

Now why its so vital...
In QMS as well in EMS, the monitoring and measurement is requirement. Now when one is monitoring or measuring (the product or process) certain devices are used. (E.g. Temparature Controller, MEasuring Tape etc.)

When we are relying on the "values" of such monitoring or measurement, how we can rely on the accuracy of the same. What if the devices are not accurate. (imagine having error in measuring tape while measuring the size)

To ensure this situation doesnt arise, the CONTROL is required. SO that control is Calibration or Verification.

Calibration: removing the error after comparing with the standard device.
Verification: Determining the error after comparing with the standard device.

I am Vaibhav, working for an ISO: 17025 accrediated laboratory, I have designed Excel sheet formats for the calibration of the laboratory equipment's along with the SOP's for the same, If anyone interested I can share the same with you all.

Calibration is vital because

• to ensure the data we collect for analysis is correct
• to ensure some of the attributes of instruments/ process like accuracy, repeatability, sensitivity are correct

Calibration Process

Any quality improvement programs and QMS systems want you base your decisions on Data . In most cases data about process is obtained from measurements made by equipments . Thus your data is as good as the equipment used to gather it .

As you are supposed to take important decisions based on the data ensuring calibration and validation of the calibration process becomes critical .
